Hemi Bawa


Hemi is Padma Shree awardee painter and sculptor.

From 1987-90 her work was included in the annual shows of All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society. In 1990 she had her first solo exhibition of paintings at Sridharani Gallery, New Delhi. From 1991-93 her work was displayed at the annual Sahitya Kala Show. In 1992 he had solo exhibition of paintings at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 1993 she had solo exhibition of paintings at The Mandarin in Hong Kong. In 1993 she did a solo show of Sculptures in Ceramic and Glass, Display Art Gallery, New Delhi. In 1994 she did a solo exhibition of contemporary garden sculptures at Shakuntala Farms, Delhi. In 1996 she did a solo exhibition of cast glass sculptures at Jehangir ArtGallery, Mumbai and Sridharani Gallery. In 1996 she was commissioned by Coca Cola to make a sculpture for the Olympic Games. In 1997 she did glass installation at the Qutub Colonnade, New Delhi. She did solo shows of cast glass sculptures in New Delhi in 1998 and in London in 1999. In 2000 she participated in www.Sculpture2000.org in Connecticut as a representative of India. In 2001 she represented India in Sculpture Garden of Tuscany, Italy. In 2002 she installed an 18ft sculpture at The Park Hotel, Chennai. In 2003 she did solo show at Pallette Art Gallery, New Delhi. In 2004 she did a mixed media show at The Hyatt, New Delhi. In 2005 she exhibited glass work in the Serina Hotel, Kabul, Afghanisthan. In 2005 she did cast glass show at The Park Hotel, Delhi. In 2005 she did a show of glass and paintings in Tokyo at the Genkan Gallery. In 2006 she did a solo show at the Alliance François De Delhi. In2006 she participated in the Khushi Auction. IN 2007 she did solo show of sculptures and paintings in Apparao Gallery, Chennai. In 2009 she did solo shows at Polka Art Gallery, Emporio DLF, and Gallery Alternatives in New Delhi. In 2012 she did a solo show at the Emporio DLF and installed a sculpture at Delhi Airport T3.

In 1991 she was felicitated by the Prime Minister of India for her contribution to social service in the field of arts. In 2002 she was awarded The Habitat Arts Commendation for the Best Artists Show. Her works are in the collections of the National Gallery of Modern Art, India and Corning Museum of Glass, USA.
